January 29th, 2008 by admin
Q: What exactly are topographic maps?
A: These maps are a derivative of the study or discipline of topography. Traditionally, the main focus of topographic maps is to supply a general impression and image of the earths surface which includes roads, rivers, buildings, and usually the basic vegetation of the area. According to the Centre for Topographic Information, the definition of a topographic map is this: “A topographic map is a detailed and accurate graphic representation of cultural and natural features on the ground.” So, in general, they are very well detailed maps that show a multitude of information on a general and detailed basis.
