Growing together as a couple

When my husband and I did some premarital counseling we were told to buy a plant and maintain it together, it helps couples stay connected. He laughed at the idea but the next time he came to my house there was a bonsai tree in the living room. He was ready to go out but I insisted that we stayed in and learned about bonsai trees. We read a short book together, and put it all together the way the instructions supplied. To this day we take time out each week just to care for it together as a couple.
