How Does Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery Work?
March 7th, 2008 by admin
There are many different forms of weight loss surgery available today but one method which has been around for many years and which still remains popular is roux-en-y gastric bypass surgery. In this particular form of surgery the stomach is substantially reduced in size and the new smaller stomach is then re-connected to the intestine so that part of the intestine is bypassed. This procedure represents a two pronged attack on the problem by first physically restricting the amount of food you can eat by reducing the size of the stomach and secondly reducing the number of calories which the body can absorb by shortening the working length of the digestive tract.
