Birth injury is the outcome of ignored signs of fetal distress from trapped umbilical cord

In this birth injury case the law firm that handled the matter reported that a settlement in the amount of $7.25 Million was achieved on behalf of the child.  The case arose when the doctor and nurses involved in the labor and delivery of the baby failed to note and failed to act upon signs that the baby was in fetal distress.  In particular, the doctor failed to perform an emergency C-section.  The fetal distress was caused when the baby’s blood and oxygen supply was severely cut off as a result of the baby’s umbilical cord become trapped between the baby’s head and the mother’s pelvic bone.  As a result, the baby suffers from mental retardation and from cerebral palsy.
